Toe Repair

• Jamming down on yorkers, or striking the ball low on the bat - many batsmen try and overhit yorkers and damage their toe.
• Hitting the pitch as you play a shot - happens a lot with yorkers but also on other shots (especially when someone's bat is too big).
• Over 'tapping' your bat, especially on harder wickets or artificial ones.

All of these are exacerbated when moisture has crept into the toe (largely from batting on wet/damp surfaces).

Fear not however, as toe cracks are often repairable! Our workshops in Christchurch and Mt Eden are set up to repair most toe damage. Toe repairs involve filling the cracks with glue and clamping the toe so the wood fibres seal together. Sometimes we may need to insert a wedge into the toe to rebuild its shape, insert a peg to hold it in place, or replace a section of the toe with a wood insert.

Normal toe repairs usually take 2-3 working days (depending on workload and the work required). Wedges, pegs and inserts will take longer.

Note: No repair will last forever - while we do our best to fix the damage at the time, repairs do not stop further damage occuring (e.g.., cracks reopening, or appearing in other spots).
